Sobaaaaa

Oops such an easy spot to miss if you're driving too fast.

Sobatei Rakuichi omakase. 8000 yen per person, cash only. We had two additional guests join us and we were so lucky to be able to fit them in last minute :) With only two full days in Niseko, we made each meal really count.

Cosy restaurant which is actually the owner's house. They live upstairs and work just enough to make a comfortable living. I like their concept.. not sacrificing quality over quantity..

Our appetizers: fresh sashimi

Fresh crab meat and and scallops.

Vegetable tempura + pork shabushabu (not pictured because I was too hungry)

The highlight of our evening, handmade soba :P

The master at work cutting the soba noodles. Glad I got front row seats, such a nice experience.

A perfect bowl of cold soba..*yum

Light dessert to close off the evening with strawberry and condense milk.

Family pic with Tatsuru Rai, the owner/chef and his wife Midori, the most elegant and beautiful host.

First time in Niseko

With so many of our friends and family going to Japan for skiing, J's family decided to check it out and see how it compares to Aspen. Although it's past the peak season, there's still some good amounts of snow but the bottom of the ski slopes were pretty slushy.

Awesome penthouse at AYA Niseko @ Grand Hirafu.

Mmm..loving all things avocado lately.

Woke up at 6am and saw the sunrise right next to Mount Yotei. When I'm excited, I tend to wake up super early or not be able to sleep very well..

Getting some rentals sorted out for spring skiing.

These ski lifts are so cute like all things Japanese.

This was my fav part but it was a really short run.. Totally fell face down into the snow at one point although I remember laughing all the way through like 'aiyaaa-hahaa'

Having a late lunch.. so famished *nomnom

Cream puffs and cheese tarts @ Milk Kobo on day two.

Lunch at Prativo. Order your mains and have as much salad as you want.

Yummy honey cake :P

Still alot of snow in late March. No wonder people got snowed in and were stuck at the airport last Dec.

Crispy thin crust margarita pizza at Hanazon 308. Really hit the spot..

Next post: our two indulgent meals in the snowy mountains ;-P

The season of love

My mom and I in Singapore for Olivia and Darryl's wedding.

:)

For Valentine's day J cooked a special meal salt-bae style and purchased  Dom Pérignon's 'Earth to Heart' 2006 vintage, a collaboration between Björk and Chris Cunningham. Check out the aurora on the label, so cool.

Our annual tradition continues, wearing our Chinese kua's for Helen and Brian's tea ceremony.

Mama's albino peacock in the backyard.

My first time at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Gorgeous and the most traditional ceremony I've ever been to..

A week later, Heidi and Eric's wedding at the Cotton Tree Drive Marriage Registry

Blueberry and soy milk smoothie.. So refreshing.

Excited for the long weekend.

Pink sunsets <3

We had a few hours to spare before the wedding so we rented this cool motorbike and rode it around town.

Sweetest couple~

Taken with the Mavic Pro, petty cool resort for our extended family :) No more weddings until June. hehe
