Alive & Well

All settled in. yay

And officially sick of Chinese canteen food. Haven't had any for the past 4 days and don't plan on having any during this week either.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone reads my rambling blog entries and I'd be pretty happy knowing that some people do think of me and wonder around to read this. If this is you I just want to say ni hao. :) I'm currently doing well in Beijing. Can't believe that I've been living in the Tsinghua dorms for...almost 5 weeks now. In a nutshell I've grown accustomed to the way of life here and can confidently say that I can now cross major intersections without inducing sweaty palms or see death flash before my eyes, take the bus and/or subway to make my way around town and not rely so heavily on the cab rides, conveniently whip out a package of napkins when it comes down to using the squatting washrooms.. I guess during this short time span I've also learned that doing the laundry ain't so annoying after all and it's actually kind of fun. Seriously I look forward to it every week. Some people like to wash dishes but for me..cleaning my room and doing the laundry works well for me.

I've made a few new acquaintances n' friends and I'm really happy to be able to come across some really cool + nice people.. Some through classes, friends of friends, campus tours, purely out of curiosity like knocking on my dorm neighbor's door. (btw she's really awesome and it feels like it's all intentionally planned by the big guy up above to guide me towards where I ought to be. I was such a lost sheep in HK :P hehe) In terms of the party scene it's great fun dancing here..if only my fatchix were around we'd be soo rocking the dance floor but sadly there's not enough r&b or hip hop to share the joy. In addition I'm starting to feel my age around here. I mean it's great and even flattering that I can pass off as a 20-21 year old but reality is that I'm not. I don't think I'm condescending but I do chuckle at the things people do or say..maturity is not always a given around here but it does keep me very amused heh. Perhaps after a socializing-ish day time PC, I'm still a introvert at heart, loving my quiet time at night when I get a chance to unwind. Usually do all my homework after class and in the evening I just chat, revise or read abit. So yeah, been doing a number of extra-curricular activities like ATTEMPTING TO JOIN the choir & marathon club. hahaha o.m.g. We had to audition for the choir club and it felt like American Idol with 4 listeners and 1 person holding the video recorder. They each had this score card to rate us. Then for the marathon club (which I should have gotten the message from the name itself) was crazy intense too. Noel and I ran for approx 20 minutes in -2 degrees and the runners ran past us at least 4 times. We decided to give up hahah +___+ Yeah, I guess 'having fun' and 'University clubs' don't go hand in hand in PRC. We did get a chance to play some badminton today which was really fun. It feels nice for once not getting beaten by dad and also some tennis last week which I'm horrible at. I ought to take lessons or ask someone to teach me how to play because I must look like a fool. hehe Can't wait until the weather gets warmer to go hiking or something.

Anyways, starting tomorrow (March 24th) I'm going to start running again. Gotta train for the May 15th run at the Great Wall. I hope fellow hk running buddy can make it during that time for a visit!! :D Unfortunately my sports band doesn't seem to be working but it's ok, I will see to it that I stay disciplined. *RARRr Oh and there's some issues with uploading photos so I guess whoever is reading this will just have to bare with the dryness of my writing. Okie dokie take cares and hope everyone is doing great! xxxx

Love,
Peggy
