einn dag | one more day

Aside from beautiful scenery and picturesque sights, the food in Iceland really completed our experience here.

One spot we knew we had to check out was Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur, 'the best hotdog in town'. Lineups throughout the day no matter if its rain or shine, plus it's pretty much in every guidebook or food blog. If you go for all the condiments, it comes with raw white onions and crispy fried onions, ketchup, sweet brown mustard and remoulade, a sauce made with mayo, capers, mustard, and herbs. Girls in front of ordered these four :) A really good snack when you need a little break.

If you see the white polar bear, it means you're close to the Sandholt bakery! :P

Back for more :)

So many things I want to try here :(

It got sooo windy and cold just from walking down a street that we had to take shelter. We popped our heads into this popular soup joint called Svarta Kaffid serving fresh crispy bread bowls with only two daily soups. Simple but hearty..feeling warm and ready to face the elements again. :)

Blue sky ring at Dunkin doughnuts.

If I haven't mentioned this before, the bread in Iceland is so incredibly good. It must be something in the water but every mouthful was just DELISH.. my two favs were the warm sourdough bread and the Icelandic sweet rye bread with soft whipped butter..

For our final dinner in Reykavik we went to Grillmarkadurinn and I had the fish gourmet which comes with grilled salmon, redfish and cod served up three different ways. Just. so. darn. good.

J had the grilled wrack of lamb. Super tender and cooked to perfection.

Before heading to the airport, got to have that homemade granola with yoghurt and fruit compote at Bergsson Mathús. I can't wait to come back to Iceland again. Hopefully someday very soon..

náð og fegurð | grace and beauty

So many pretty swans swimming out here in the cold at Tjörnin pond.

Wee ice skating time :)

Thee best seafood salad full of lobster, scallops and prawns at the Sjávargrillið Seafood Grill. This was the smaller size but portioning was perfect for me and so satisfying. The dill added made it especially fresh :)

J had the grilled salmon with apple and brocoli.

At the National Museum of Iceland and understanding how the early settlers lived when they first arrived.

Learning about the different moments in Iceland's history. Pretty cool

 Walking 20-30 minutes just for...

Valdis ice cream :) Tried a lil bit of the licorice flavour but had to settle with the chocolate cone.

We had a really fun experience at the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. Abit busier than we thought it would be.

Enjoying my facial and complimentary prosecco drink :) Feeling fresh and dewy like a baby's cheek.

Robatta grilled mink whale with redcurrant and horseradish @ Fiskmarkadurinn - The Fish Market. Tasted like sashimi and quite enjoyable although J didn't quite appreciate it the way I did :P The tables around us all went for the set dinner but it just looks like too much food.

Pretty dang fresh *omnomnom

Yummay.. volcano langoustine maki with langostine tartar..who said the food here is bad?

nei hefst enga endi | no beginning no ending

Yeah kind of been on a hiatus after going to the U.S. right before the Chinese New Year. Back at work this week, hung out with cousins and family, cleaned the house (feels so darn good to complete everything in one go), restocked our supplies and now watching the Arrival for the second time. heh Pretty cool movie.. if you saw your whole life from start to finish, would you change things?

Waking up to see transformed landscape with snow covered mountain tops.

The croissants were still warm and loving the breakfast spread each morning.. so hearty and delicious :P

Taking one last look before we leave.. an easy drive back to Reykjavik.

Arrived safely and checked into Kvosin hotel and this time they gave us a larger room. *woot :) Love the decor and location of this place.

Having a little snack at Saegreifinn - The Sea Baron. The seafood soup and fresh skewers really hit the spot.

Got to try my favorite scallops.

Hallgrímskirkja church, the city's best-known landmark that looks like lava that's cooled into basalt rocks. Take the lift up the observation deck on a clear day and you can see the colorful rooftops for as far as the eye can see.

Taking a chill afternoon and relaxing in town.

This was crazy. Glad we made it back safely!

Sandholt, definitely one of the best bakeries in town..

We loved this place so much that we came twice.

If only I can try all the pastries in the display case.

Our Icelandic souvenir :)

Watching The Crown and having some chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Wouldn't have it any other way...
